IT'S NOT CRICKET!

' t That the door of the pavilion on the' Levin Park Domain was looking rather battered as the result of thes continual barrage of the cricket balls it was forced to withstand, was a matter raised by Cr* R; A. Frederiksen at Monday night's Borough Council meeting. He added that it was being continUally used as a wicket by juveniles. Cr. D. J. Gardiner: It's not only juveniles, but cricketers awaiting their turn to bat at ordinary matches. A suggestion was forthcoming that a board be erected which could be used as a "wicket," but the general opinion was that it 'would more than likely be taken away and used as firewood. The borough overseer, Mr. E. Lycette, said he had thought of painting three "stumps" on the solid wall near the. door. The Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin: That's the best idea, but I suppose We'll then have to put up a notice saying, "This Is The Wicket."
