Scott Refuses League Offer
AUCKLAND, Jan. 19. U. IV. II. iScott, Auckland and Ail Black Rugbv fuil back, has rejected a thrco-year contract to play Rugbv League fo'r the Iialit'ax Club in England. He refused oue offer of £1500 and the amount was increased to £200u in New Zealand currexxcy in a second offer. Negotiations were begun by the Ilalifax Club by letter xx,nd tlieA D3' cable about two xnonths ago and iScott made his last refusal last week. He and another represontative Rugb^v pJayer, R. L. Dobson, who was a member with Bcott in the New Zealand Arxny Rxxgby team tn Grcat Britain in 1945-10, have recently fornxed a business partnership as pain'ters after comple) rng x) course organised bj' the Rehabilitation Department and Scott tonight said his imxnediate ambifions were in business and in plaj-ing Rugbv. Scott was under considerable pressure from the Balifax Club, The inducements wero an offer to pay the return air passage of his wife, an Exxglish girl wlxom Scott uxet during the tour of , the Kiwis, and assured an income of well over £500 in each of the three years of tlie contract.
