Wanganella Now Ready For Big Repair Job

WELLINGTON, Jan. 20. Less than two hours after she left Clyde Quay wnarf this mornmg, the Wanganella berthed in the floating dock to enable a start to be maae with the biggest ship repair job ever undertaken in New Zealand.The trip across the harbour was rpade without lncident. As a result of the lmprovement made to the sealing work while the ship was at Clyde Quay she had greater buoyancy than when she was moyed to "the ddck last Ma'y. The draught was only 23ft. 6ins., compared witn the previous draught of 25ft. The dock was down to a depth of 25ft, 6ins., so there was two feet to spare when the Wanganella moved slowly into position. The operation was watched by several hundred spectators. The repairs by Messrs Cable and Co„ Ltd., are estimated to takc apout five or six months.
