Cr. D. J. Gardiner, Deputy Mayor of Levin, was, at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council, nofiiinated to attend the Municipal Conference, which is to be held in Dunedin in April. Messrs. Vickerman and Lancaster hav.e advised the Levin Borough Council that they will be glad to accept the position of consulting engineers for the proposed sewerage scheme. The council will meet Mr, 'Vickerman on February 23, when details of the scheme will be discussed. The council would extremely regret : to hear that Miss H. E. Bowen, a past councillor who had given -long and valued service to the borough, was seriously ifi, said tlie Mayor, Mr. H. B. Burdekin, at last night's meeting of the Levin Borough Council. He sincerely. hoped that in- the near future, Miss Bowen's condition would show a marked improvement, and that she would soon be restored to health. Miss E. Jenkins, for the past eight and a-half years a member of the Levin Borough Council's clerical staff, tendered her resignation at last night's council meeting. Various councillors expressed their regret that the council was losing Miss Jenkins' service, stating that they had always found her mosfc courteous and efficient in her work. It was decided that she be sent a letter recording the council's appreciation of her long and valuabie service, and that as a tangibi? recognition she be given a month's salary.
