ROTORUA, Jan. 15. During tlie past week 520,000 feet,Qf sawn insignis pine has been tr^nsported by rail from Rotorua to Auckland for consignment to Australia under the reeiprocal tixnber exchange inaugurated i%si yea,r- This is- the " foiuth ship'ni'ent ■in ihe piast 12 months and* the large.lt to date. The last consignment about October, 1947, set a then record of 500,000 cfeet. lt took about 10 da^*& to • be cleared from Rotonui largety because of unfavourable weather which liind,;ered loading. The present quantity i ' has been loaded and transported witliin a. week. Early .consignments have been p.laced on a vessel at Auckland which sail;s tomorrow for Sydney. The remaiuder is expected to leave next week although no deliuite saiiing date has b,een flxed fo,r- the boat. All the timber has come from the Waipa State mill and represents a portion of the cutting sinee fhe, end: of the Uoliday period. For this pine New Zealatul will receive equql shipmenfs of hardwoods from Ausfralia,. Another large consignment . will probably be ready for export about tlie end of next month..
