YOUNG MAN LOSES LIFE.
AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. A young, man lost his life in the Mangakahia River about 2 J miles from Whangarei this evening. Ile was Mr. James Walker, labourer, wliose mother resides at Parakao. He was a member of a party of swimmers who went tc bathe in the Mangakahia River at Parakao about 7.30 p.m., Mr. Walker fell into the river and was carried' away. Although his compahions brought hin. ashore within ■ a few minutes he was then dead.
