SCIENTIST'S INDEX CARDS A PROBLEM
LONDON, Jan. 12. The late Sir Bernard Bpilsbury, who spent his lifetime solving problems for the poliee, has left one of his greatest probiems behind him — the ricldle oi' 6000 index cards on which he noted the chief features of his most important lu vestigations and eases. Two seientists who are now checking this index have found the notes almost unintelligible, as Sir Bernard Spilsburv 's entries consist only of a few words intended to jog his own exceptional memory.
Sir Bernard intended to use the notes as the basis for a hook, but according to the Sunday Express he never had the opportunity to write it b.ecause he was entirely dependeiit upon case fees paid to him. by the Home Office and tlierefore had to keep worlting to inaintam uis income. *A i'nend of Sir Bernard Spilsbury said: "It is disgraeefui that anybody in .air Bernard Spilsuury 's position shouhi have had to depend upon post inorten. fees of two guineas a time. He was doing great wurk for the Stale, anu the State should have helped him. ' '
