. ■ " AUCKLAND, Jan. 14. A Maori girl 'was drowned in the Waikato. River at Te Kohanga, about 10 miles from Tuakau, at noon. btie was Matuakore Oti, aged 4 years, stepdaughter o'f Mati O'ti, of Te Kohanga. The dead girl waS piaying ,with ±our other children on the banlcs, of the river when she slipped on a rock and fell into deep water." The other children 'were unable to reaeh her but rushed for assistanee.- After a search l'asting two hours the body was found.
