WELLINGTON, Jan. 14. A settlement of the dispute whicli has arisen over the dismissal of more than 100 waterside wo'rkers from overseas. ships in the port of Wellington, was reached today. Qffieials of the Wel lington branch of the Waterside Workers' Union and of the New Zealand Waterside Employers' Eederation, conferred with the Watcrf'ront Industry Oommission presided over by Judge Dalglish. Judge Dalglish said tonight that talks had been held but that at this stage no report of decision would be issued by the Commission, Union pfficial^willj-eport .to the mpntJply,stopwork meeting of niembers to be held tomorrow morning and will ask the men to return to nonnal wo,rk. Between 100 and 110 watersiders were dismissed at the end of tlie afternoon on Tuesday on the grouud that they had left work . aliead of -finishi»g- time. Three overseas ships, the Glenpark, Empire Star and Ottawa Valley were affected and there were a few dismissals from other ships. The union representafives askeil for the reinstatemeut of the men and took the matter to a meeting of the Port Committee from whieh it was referred to the Waterfront Industry Commission. There was a long discussion during
whieh an understanding is reported to have been reached aud will be referred to the stop-work meetings beginning early tomorroAV mdrning. - No work was done on the Glenpark aud Ottawa Valley this morning. There was only oue gan g on the Empire Star.
