PUBLICISING ROAD MARKINGS
- . . - ' -• ISSUE OF JBULLFTIN FROPOSEB A proposal for the issue of'a bulletin. de.aling with road markings was outlined in a communication received at yesterday's meeting of the Horowhenua County Couneil from the ' New Zealand Road Safety Couneil. The formulation of a bulletin setting dut recognjsed road markings had been commenced prior to the, war, said the letterAbut it had' been shelved and it was only. now possible to proceed witli it. The markings., as distinct from traffic signs, were not generally prescribed for by regiilation added the communication, and there was therefore a laek "of uniformity in the types of markings adopfced by the v'arious centres. This was an excellent idea, said the chairman, Mr. A. M. Colquhoun. Jt was very cqnfusing 'without- any uniformity of road markings, and an attempt to "straighten things out" was worthwhile. Cr. E. R. Winkler asked if the 4utbmobile Association would not be involve'd to- a great extent. The bulletin would refer mainly to the markings on the road, which were no .e.oneern of the A.A., commented the engineer, Mr. W. H. Fraser. The communication was received. ' ,r "" •
