Tlie Dominion bowling singles championsiiips were continued today. *" The .weather was fine in the morning but a tropical downpour in the afternoon tiooded some of the greens and play was interrupted from the luncheon break till 5 o'cloek. Seven rounds were completed and the field was reduced to eight two-lifers and 47 one-lifers. The pairs will be eommenced tomorrow. Owing to sudden indisposition, S,Vella (Onehunga), present singles chainpion who liad survived Monday's play without loss, was compelled to withdraw. C. G. Spearman (Christchurch R.S.A.) who won his first five games was pitted in the sixth round ugaiust tlie Wellington ' one-lif er D. Spiller (Khandallah). Spiller drew away from Spearman until he obtained a lead of 17 to 4. This drew a large gallery whieh obviously alt'ected Spiller and Spearman, tlirowing ioiig heads, steadily overhauled the Wellington man until, with 4 on the 19th, he was able to start-the last end only oue down. Spiller made a much better show on this end, howeve*, and the players were unable to distinguish the shot, the resultant 'lieasure oeing m favour of Spiller. Spoannan won his seventh round game but Spiller was eliminated by J. Rawlinson (Dunedin). W. Bremner (Epsom) had an exciting game with E. P. Exelby (Erankton Jimction) in the fourth round, the game resulting in a tie on the final end. Exelby played a brilliaut and diffi.culi shot on the extra end to socure a win. Exelby lost in the fifth round and was eliminated in the last round of the duy by C. 11. Kinzett (Maitai; 14 — 21. C. E. Tyrrell ended the day with two lives stili in hand. Two of the unbeaten Onehunga meu, J. 11. Mingju.s and F. Livingstone, both of wliom entered the sixth round With two lives in hand, met iu the sixth round wlien JMingms won 18 to 11. Spencer (Invercargill R.S.A.) won his first six games. In the sixth rouiiu he beat tlie former pairs champion J. A. Veitch (Dunedin). N. W. MeGorlick (-Bluff) suifered his first loss in the fourth round at the hands of L. Latimer (Ivia Toa, Timaru) by the wide margin of 7 — 24, but he won his next three games, and in the sixth round defeated A. W. Alloo (Nelson; by 21 to 18. W. E. Hadwin (Lower Hutt) beat E. Firtli (Mount Albert) twice during the dav,. tlie latter being eliminated in the sixth round. Hadwin hiniself sullered his first reverse at the hands of A. W. Ball (Christchurch R.S.A.).
