A. wave of . strikes>ha& begun in. the British. .zcme of G-ermany as a protest against food shortag'es. ■T-he Essen correspondent of the Asso-c-iated Press reports that *50,000 workers wallced ont of Krupps ' and other factories in Essen in a general hunger 'strilce, In the Buhr, 85,000 workers are now str-ikin'g against the low food rations. The Dusseldorf correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says indiistrial unrest •is spreading in the Buhr, in spite of the dfforts of the trades unipn leaders and other res'ponsible Qermans. There is strong evidence that- the Communists are fomenting| discord, it is considered to be more than a eoincidence that the strikes and token stoppages are happeiiing at the time of the bi•zonal reorganisation, whieh the Oommunists oppose.
