POPULAR GIRL HAS 21ST BIRTHDAY PARTY

The popularity of Miss Beryl Fog^ den, daughter of a .well-known Otaki family, - was demonstrated on Saturday night when the Anglican Hall was filled with many guests to wish her all the hest for ner 21st birthday. There was a iarge representation from Levin where Miss Fogden resided for some y.ears. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Fogden and members of their family are well-known in the district. • Dancing occupied most of the evening, Mr. Bfuce Fogden being lM.C. with Mr. Pat Sharp at the piano. Toast to the guest of« the evening, was proposed by Mr. Len Allen, of Levin, who spoke highly of her popularity. t Amidst appiause, Miss Fogden was presente'd with the traditional birthday key and all present joined in the .musical honours which' followed. In a neat speech, Miss Fogden thanked all for the reception given her and the remarks made by the various speakers and also for the many beautiful presents. An old friend of the family, Mr. Harold Taylor proposed the toast of Mr. and Mrs. Fogden and family and in so doing paid a higb tribute : to their popularity in the district. Replying, Mr. Fogden expressed his thanks to Mr. Taylor for his remarks and gr^titude to those who had endorsed them, He was pleas.ed to see so many friends present. . The health of the guest of the evening was again honoured, and a lovely birthday cake, "with its twenty-one candles, cut and distributed.
