NEW JET AIRCRAFT LANDS ON CARRIER
Successful trials with Britain's latest jet fighter, the supermarine Attacker, have taken place on board the aircraft carrier- H.M.S. Ellustrious. There were serious difficulties m adapting ,the Attacker, ohe of the fastest fighter s in the world, for landing *on and taking off. The main difficulty was that with the jet motor throttled back the pilot f^nid not control the rate of sink when coming in to land, a vital wnen xanding on a sutfface may rise or. fali 20ft. wiuti the movement of the sea. The fighter is reported to have a speed of auuut 6o0 m.p.h.
