TRYING TO TURN SHIPS MORE QUICKLY
Reeeived Thursday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Jan. S. Important proposals designed to expedite the turn round of ships in British pprts, will shortlv be submitted to tho Minister of Transport, Mr. Barnes, by the Government committee set up last autumn under the ehairmanship of Sir Robert Letch, cliairman of the Port of London Authority. The committee has already completed a report upon the modernisation of facilities and improvepient of working eonditions in the Port of London and has visited Liverpool, Hull and Rristol to prepare similar reports upon . .'onditions there. On the labour side, the report, dealing with tlie Port of London, recom.nends night workjng in certain docks md the removal of rektrictive *practices.
