This follows recent visits by Mr. Shimvell to Army iustallations in and around London, when he strongly eriticised the lack of warmth and general comfort in both officers3 and men's living quai'ters. At one anti-aircraft eamp, tvhen showed the barracks1 living quarters, he asked whether he was being shown the best acconunodation or the wors\ Whpn told he was being shown the best he demanded to see the worst and remarked: "This is detinitely not good enough. " So far the Arnty Couiic.il 's 15-year plan has been held in abeyance owing to lack of labour and materials. but Mr. ►Shimvell has indic-ated that he is prepared to authorise immediate expenditure upon improving the worst of the camps and that he expects the quartermasters to do their best to Jind labour and materials..
