SAFE TAKEN FROM GARAGE IN STOLEN CAR

OTAKI, Jan. 9. Two workshops owned by J. E. Southgate, Ltd., and sitqatpd in two separate parts of Otaki, were burgled lqst pight apd a iarge safe and motor car removed frpm one and the saf § pf |he pther ransacked. This morning the Otaki police retrieved the stQlen car, which had been abandoned in Otaki, and also the empty safe. Neatly staeked on thie back seat of the vehicle were all the bcpks and cheques it had contained. SontbSjate's are a large engineering firm and their workshops are situated at Otaki Raihvay and Qtaki township. 6jt was from the Otaki Railway premises that the sate and car were removed. It is not yet known hqw much money was stolen, but tlip swm is believed tp be fairly suhstantiai. .
