Racing Authorities' Scheme Approved .After giving eonsideration to four schemes put forward by individuals, the ' donimi.ssion reeommended the adoption , of the scheme propounded eonjointiy by? the Racing and Tfotting Conferenees. ; "Bfoadly speaking, it is suggested j that totalisator agencies should' be es- > tablished at all places whare the volume of business appears to warraiit it. The apthors of the scheme have 200 such: ■ x>laces in mind. It is proposed that these agencies should be uuder the control of the two Conferenees or of ari organisation set up by them. Two niethods of betting are proposed a't sueh premises. On other days,' as well as on race days, bets will be accepted by telephone, by telegraph or b'y post. Investments made at agencies will be collated and the results transmitted to sub-distriet agencies. The sub-distrint agencies will, in their tuni, collate and transmit the totals to a head office situated at Wellington. The head offi.ee is to carry out the hnal collation and transmit the results to the on-course totalisator concerned, so that the offc'course betting 011 eacli race can be recorded on the on-course totalisator as soon as the totalisator betting for that race begius.
