GERMAN PRISONERS WANT TO STAY IN BRITAIN
Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, Jan. 6. Ten thousand German prisoners of war - have already indicated their willingness to remain in Britain this year and work on British farms under the sarne conditions and at the same rates of pay as British farm workers. By accepting this offer, which has been made by the Ministry of Agriculture, the Germans will not forfeit their nationality but will lose prisoner-of-war status and will be classified as ' ' alien civilians. ' ' All the volunteers will be" screened before being finally accepted. Between - 6000 and 7000 Germans are tlready employed on British farms as fully paid civilian workers. All the German prisoners are now being offered the alternative of staying in Britain be'fore beihg repatriated.
