Rain, for three hours earlv this uiorning, softened the wicket which was uever dangerous and favoured the bowlers. Lucky Bradman, who can't do a thing wrong, closed at once. The Indians know little about technique on sucli wickets and made niany lucky snicks but the wicket was not respousible for the loss of the early wickets, two going to yorkers. Gul Mahouied, the bright let't-hander, swung several leg fours and the powerful turbaned Rai Bingh liit Johnson for .six, scoring 24 in 19 minutes. Ranguekar the left-hauder, stirred the crowd with tluee successive fours off .Tohuston ' but was cauglit well out uext over, liaving scored 18 iu 15 minutes.
