MAN DROWNED IN RIVER AT PAHIATUA
•' » — - ' PAHIATUA, Jan. 5. ' A farm hand of Mangamutu, Pahiatua, Donald McDonald, was drowhed last night in the Mangahao River. The victim of the tragedy, who could not £wim, tripped over a log" ih the shallows and fell into a deep hole. A married couple with children; who were in the party were not swimmers, and help CoUld not be obtained in time. The body was recovered by the Pahiatua police this moriiing in 14 feet of water. McDonald was 36 years of age and belonged to Balfour, in the South Island.
