Captain J. D. Campbell, who was stationed at Levin during the war, and who left to take over the position of officer in charge of the aerodrome at - Rarotonga, sent a goodwill message to the Mayor and Mayoress oi j-.c:vin, lvir. anu lvirs. H. B. Burdekin. Professor Alfred North Whitehead, philosopher and mathematician, has died at Cambridge/JMiagn sachusetts. Professor' Whitehead,"' v/ho was 86, was born in Ramsgate, England, and ranked among the world's most distinguished mathematicians. He occupied important posts at Cambridge University and London University, and from 1924 to 1936 was professor of philosophy at Harvard. In 1945 he was awarded the » Order of Merit, of which there are only 24 members.
