CHRISTMAS FOURS BOWLING
SEMI-FINALS STARTED TODAY Twenty-four teams met on the Wellington Bowling Club's greens yesterday to contest; on the "sudden death" principle, -the postsectional play of the Christmas fours tournament organised by the Wellington Bowling Centre. This morning at 9.30, the semifinals commenced on the Wellington greens between Parfitt, McCabe, Bragg and Giles (Kelburn) and Dendy, Lambess, Roper and Christian (Paekakariki) ; also between Tobin, McVean, Bell and Wilson (Central) and Todd, Bird, Russell and Fleming (Newtown) . The results of yesterday's postsection play were as follows, only the skip's name being mentioned in each case: — First Round: Fleming (Newtown) 21, Herron (Islan'd Bay) 12; P. W. Smith (Thorndon) 19, Faulkner (Lyall Bay) 16; Hastings (Newtown) 19, Neilson (Kelburn) 17; Gee (Hutt) 17, Webley (Wellington) 14; Wyatt (Karori) 21, Goldfinch (Wellington) 19;- W. T. Wilson (Central) 24, Hadwin (Hutt) 18; Wardrop (Victoria) 18, Hazelwood Lyall Bay) 15; Silbery '(Petone) 23, Short (Seatoun) 18.
