STAY IN ENGLAND IS PLEA OF GERMAN MOTHER
Received Tuesday, T p.m. LONDON, Dec. 29. A G.erman whose home is in the Russian sector of Berlin has 'had a letter from his mother advising him to stay in England for a little while longer, says the Daily Mail. Aged 27, he was taken prisoner in 1943 and is dne for repatriation this week. Now he is asking f.or his repatriation to be postponed, and he hopes t'o find work on a farm. The letter said, "My dear son,- to WTite this breaks my heart. How dearly we wonld have liked to see you hamo. again, but I prav you to stay in England. To . return wonld be stepping from -the end of one war into the beginning of another. Every yonng man retnrning home is being reeruited by the Russians. Those who do not jom the Red Army are sent into the mines or to -Siberia. They are never heard oi again. The woods around, Berlin are full of captured German tanlcs and guns. I could not bear to see you in. another wai", Stay in England— at .least for a little time longerr"
