ALL SIX SHIPS WIN IMPORT DEADLINE RACE
WELLINGTON, Dec. 30. Six overseas ships due to reach Wellington before December 31 nave ail arrived in the past week, die last of them, the Port St. John, oerthing today. They beat the 1947 Lmport license deadline with time on hand. Between them the six ships brought to New Zealand nearly 50,000 tons of cargo, all a charge agaii-st current import licences. Practically -all the ships carried record cargoes, the result of thel skippers' efforts over the past! months to lift the heavy weight of | cargo awaiting transport to New ZGSilSrlld. The Wellington waterfront is very busy, but the cargo has been cleared smoothly and without serious congestion.
