Boy From Levin Admitted To Hospital
" A boy aged 12 years from Levin, who was admitted to the Palmerston North Hospital Oh Saturday as an. infantile pdralysis suspect, was /esterday afternbon diagnosed as a positive case.This is the first positive case from :he Horowhenua and Mahawatit iistricts, and also the first to be admitted to the Palmerston. North Hospital. Several sUSpects have oeen taken to the institution sinc'e the outbreak, but they have SUbse^uently proved negative. In advising of the case last hight; the health inspector, Mr. W. J. Guinan, reiterated the' need for jarents carrying ottt the precautions which have been outlined by his department since the outbreak started. He empha'sised the necesiity for children to be kept to themselves as much as possible, and for them and their patents to avoid any unnecessary fresh contaCts. It was also advisablb for children not to be exposed to the sun for long periods, and to refrain from undue exertion. 0 Mr. Giiinan again drCW attention to the prohibition on the cohgregation of children, pointing out that all those un'der 16 years of' age were banned from atending gatherings of any kind, whethef indoor or outside.
