STAGGERING FIRE LOSSES IN U.S.
Received Sunday, 8.50 p.m. NEW YORK, Dec. 27. Headed by tbe huge toll of the Texas City explosion last April, fire and related disasters cost the United States almost 700,000,000 dollars this year, says the National Board of Fire Underwriters, in a report issued today. * This is a record for the United States. It is not only the highest peacetime loss to any nation but exceeded by approximately 300,000,000 dollars property damage suffered by Britain in 'the two -years of the German blitz. .. (
