Receive'd Monday, 10.50 a.m. LONDON, Dec. 28. The largest party of British migirants ever to go to New Zealand jsaned from Southampton today in ithe Atlantis. The party compnsed j 300 men and 250 women, aged from :20 to 35, mostly ex-service people and all single. Most of Uiem are going to jobs. The women will be mainiy nursing tramees, shorthand typists, household workers, factory operatives and workers in hosteis, liospicals and liotels. Some of the men will go to heavy industries and others oecome timoer workers, coal mining trainees, electricians, welaers anu fitters for hydro-electric schemes, carpenters, fooiwear operatives, aria engineering and printing tradesmen. The New Zealand High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan; who farewelled the party, told Reuter that ' apart from 1000 migrants stiii wair- ^ ing to go to New Zealand, 20,000 people were awaiting ordinary passages.
