Auckland Paralysis Cases Rise Sharply

Two deaths from infaritile paralysis oceurred at the Auckland Hospital on Baturday.- Olie'patient was a four-year-old girl from the metropolitan area who had heen in hospital for some weeks and the' other was a 33-year-okl man from Papakura who was admitted to hbspital last. Tlmrsday. Both were suk'ering from rbspiratory paralysis, the cause of the three previous deaths. Three of the hve fatal cases have been adults. The number of positive cases in hospital rose sharply during the weekend from 4(| on Friday night to 51 exeluding the two fatal cases. Three suspected cases are also in hospital. Five positive and suspected cases wefe admitted on Saturday but there were -no admissions today. One of the live new patients is an adult and the rest are children. Since the outbreak began on Novenv ber 15, a total of 65 positive cases has been reportcd in the Uentral Auckland health district. Nine patienfs, most Ot whom had recoveied, have been disihargod.
