COMEDY WRITER FOR ABBOTT AND COSTELLO

; John Grant, screen writer for ' Universal-International pictures in Hollywood, began work in June on I his 20th come-dy for Abbott and I Costello. Since the comedy team j started making pictures, Grant has written them all. His 19th "Rookies Come Home" has already been released in Britain. Grant started in the show business as Lou Costello's partner. A year later he decided to take up writing and theatre management, and called on Bud Costello to take his place in the team. He has been their writer ever since, and has not missed working on a single one of their films. "Rookies Come Home" is a hilarious film depicting the elforts of Bud and Lou to geet back to Civvy Street after the war. They get mixed up with midget car racing and the film ends with Lou leading a crazy dash across country in a racing car out of control.
