One of the pioneer settlers of the Wairarapa Mrs. J. Mackay, died Aecently at the age of 80 years. She 1 had lived in Masterton all her life and was held in high esteem by the community, Mr. H. D. Mackay, jof Tiro Tiro Road, Levin, is a son. j The Very Rev. Thomas Johnston, I S.J., M.A., has been appointed rec- • tor of the Holy Name Seminary, ; Christchurch, a national minor j seminary for the education 'of priests for the diocesan clergy of , New Zealand. Father Johnston J succeeds the late Very Rev. Noel ' Hehir, S.J., who died in Christ- | church this year after bsing the j seminary 's first rector.
