OTAKI FIRE BOARD MEETS
BRIGADE CONGRATULATED ON FINE SAVE The quarterly meeting of the Otaki Fire Board was held on Thursday evening, all members, with the secretary and superinten-' dent, being present. Prior tov the commencement of the business the chairman extended a welcome to the newly-elected Borough Council representatives. It was decided that helmets of the Cromwell type be procured, while the question of a battiry charger was left to the superin-tendent-r Personal insurance was left in abeyance. Accounts totalling £54 2s 2d were passed for payment, and the seretary's financial statement received and approved. Reference was made to the fine services rendered by Mr. L. G. Gimblett during his term of office. It was decided that the matter of the Beach siren be left to the secretary to have it transferred to Mr. Stocking's. The chairman offered congratulations to briga'desmen for the excellent save made at the Telegraph Hotel fire. The insurance representatives endorsed the remarks. Building renovations and addit-ions at the station were left to Mr. Retter, Mr. Stocking and the secretary (Mr. Rhodes) . The superintendent reported that during the quarter there had been three fires, the Telegraph Hotel, at Otaki, the Railway Bowling Club's green and on the hill at the Presbytery. Good saves had been made, and thanks were due to willing helpers. The average attendance of members at practices and fires was 15. All 'equipment was in good order.
