WEEKLY SPORTS IN OTAKI
Due to the faet that children under 16 years of age were unable to be present, the attendance at the Otaki A. A. and C. Ciub's weekly sports in Otaki on Wednesday night was very , much smaller tnan usual. However, adult competitors ably filled the programme and provided good sport. The following are the^results of the various events: — Half mile cycle. — Wilton (50 yds.) 1, G. Eddy (125 yds.) 2, E. Mathie (25 yds.) 3. Time, 1 min. 19i secs. Smith (scr.) and Fox (150 yds.) ' 1 also started. It was a good race. I Junior ladies' 75 yards. — Miss D. Iwilliams 1, Miss M. Cootes 2, Miss O. Kingi 3. Time, 9 2/5 secs " Eight starters. Won by three inches. Junior 100 yards. — Davis 1, Waaka 2, Julius 3. Time, 11 secs". Four starters. A good race, second and third being almost level at the tape. Senior 100 yards. — Hakaraia 1, McLeod 2, N. Gordon 3. Time, 11 secs. Only starters. A good finish. " Oid timers' race. — J. Houlihan and G. McKinley (dead heat) 1, Fly. Connor 3. Six starters. A good race. No time taken. Three-lap cycle. — G. Eddy (275 yds.) 1, Fox (275 yds.) 2, D. Smith ; (25 yds.) 3. Time, 1 min. 59 secs. Won easily by 75 yards. Wilton and Mathie also started. Ladies' 75 yards. — Miss Kingi 1, Miss D. Williams 2, Miss Hutton 3. Time, 12 2/5 secs. Senior 220 yards. — Davis 1, Stevens 2, Julius 3. Time, 24 2/5 secs. ;Six starters. A race well won. ; Girls relay. — Aces 1, Otaki Rail- : way 2, Textile Eagles 3. Time, 51 ! secs. 1 One and a-half mile cycle. — Smith (25 yds.) 1, Wilton (50 yds.) 2, Mathie (75 yds.) 3. Time, 4 1 mins. 37 secs. ; Men's relay. — Otaki 1, Otaki Rail- i i way 2, Tainui 3. Time, 48 secs.
