Scotland Yarcl special branch otlicers are seeking two Rumanians, tlieii- wives and a baby aged a few months wlio escaped on Wednesday from the . Rumanian Legation in London. Orders came from Bucharest six weeks ago that the two i'amilies who had/ been employed as Legation servants must return immediately, but they refused to go. On Monday they teleplioned the police from the Legation sayiug: "We are to "be shot and want protection. ' ' A Legation odicial denied that the Riunanians were to be shot, Bucharest had ordered them to return because their ditties had ended. Ha told the police sergeant who called at the Legation that the Rumanians could not leave the Legation luitil the.ir semi-diplomatic passports were surrendered. The official told the Daily Mail today that he then ordered all the Legation 's doors and windows to be locked, but the staff next morning fonnd that the families had escapea with all their baggage by a ladder from the top floor.
