ANOTHER DESTRUCTIVE FIRE IN AUCKLAND
AFCKDAXD, Dec. 15. Thirtv city firemen fouglit for over an hour tonight to supjjress a fire whicii rotally destroyed the large stock oi valuaole stores in the confectionery factorv of Brown Bros, and Oeddis in Parnell. The wooden building, uhich was the oldost part of mainlv a briek factorv was redueed to ashes, but the outbreak was prevented froiu spreading to other buildings. At lease threa nearby residents whose liomes were from 25 to 75 yards from the fire reported the outbreak almofit simultanoouslv to fire headquarters. Tliev said a lierce glow was to be seen behind the windows. Then the windows splintered and a fieree bur.st of tiariie, enveloping the whole building, rose 5o feet into the air, casting a refleetion wliich was seen 10 milos awav. The roof eollapsed in ti snower of spnrlcs. The firemen concentrated on preventiiig the sproad of the fire as nitjiing could be done to save the stores and building. A director of the firin said tonighf.'that tio estimate could at present be/given of ihe value of the eontents.
