Personal Mrs. E. Downer, of Hastings, is visiting Mrs. Bartholomew at the schoolhouse. Miss M. E. James, who has completed her maternity training at uhe Hastings. Memorial Hospital, will be joining the staff of the Otaki Sanatorium. School Reports , . The headmaster of the Otaki State School, Mr. J. E. James, announces that the pupils' report cards and primary school certificates are obtainable at the school. Otaki Races Acceptances for the Otaki races to be held on Saturday are very aatisfactory, and as the course is In good order splendid racing shouid result. The stewards have arrangements complete and it only remains to have a fine day. Teachers' Refresher Course Teachers from sehools surroun'ding Otaki have held refresher courses during the past week and are continuing until Friday, when sehools will close for the year. Formal English, sewing, spelling and nature study have been discussed and addresses from leading Maori and European citizens on the early history of Horowhenua have ma-de a most interesting and instructive course. '
