SHEEP VALUES IMPROVE
WEEKLY STOCK SALE IN LEVIN There vtes a larger yarding of pigs at the Levin sale yesterday, when prices for porkers were fully maintained. Baconers depreciated in value on last week's rates. There was an improved tone in the sheep yarding, prices for wethers increasing hy 2s per hea'd, while a small yarding of store hoggets realised recent rates. A large entry of runners and vealers came forward and sold on a par with current rulings, while an extra large yarding of P.A. heifers and cows caused a slight depreciation in values. A small yarding of dairy cattle received very little demand and sold below recent prices. The following is a range of prices realised: — Sheep: Extra prime ewes, to 25s 9d; prime do., to 25s 4d; extra heavy wethers, to 39s 7d; medium do., to 38s 7d; prime hoggets, 37s 4d to 38s 7d; medium do., 35s 4d to 1 36s 10'd; blacfe faced hoggets, 33s 7d to 34s lOd; prime lambs, 32s ld to 34s lOd; mixed sex hoggets, 31s; ewe hoggets^ 31s 4d. Cattle: Heavy vealers, £7 2s 6d to £8 7s 6d; lighter do., £5 17s 6d to £6 2s 6d; heavy runners, £10 to £11 17s 6d; medium do., £8 2s 6d to £9 17s 6d; lighter do., £6 7s 6d to £7; prime medium-weight oxen, £17 17s 6d to £20 12s 6d; pTijfie P.A. heifers, £15 2s>6d to £16 12s 6d; medium sorts, £13' 17s. 6-d tfi TI 4 10s 6d; medium-weight P.A. cows, £12 7s 6d to £13 17s 6d; ex-dairies, £6 17s 6d to £8 2s 6d. Pigs: Extra prime porkers, -£4 17s 6d to £5; prime do., £4 10s to £4 15s; lighter sorts, to £4 5s; baconers, £5 10s to £6 3s; weaners, to 31s; heavy stores, £3 to £3 10s; light stores, £2 7s 6d to £2 15s.
