Tlie War Minister, Mr. Shinwell, in a speech at Bolton, #replying to Mr. Oh urclull 's assertion that one-quarter of Britain 's 48 000,000 population would havce to disappear under tlie Socialist system, said Britain would have to consider in organised fashion without political motives, the whole question of ('migration. "Britain has to provide more populatious for tlie Dominion.s and colonies as ]>art of our Kmpire policy," he said. "We iiiust do that for security and economic reasons. " Mr. Shinwell added that Britain wanted to keep productive workers, doctors, nurses, teachers, niusicians and art.ists and was even prepared to retain "some of the newspaper people."
