Received Mondav, 7 p.m.. LONDON, Dec. 7. Saies of surplus war equipment by the Ministry of Supplv Directorate of Disposal.s liave returned £450,000,000 to the British Bxchequer during the past two years. The directorate still liolds huge stocks of surplus aircraft, clothing, meehanieal equipment. and other service stores, which are being sold in Britain and over (50 overseas countries. Hince it was established at the end of the war the directorate has sold 3(50,000 motor vehieles at £37,000,000, and 117,000 tons of surplus clothing, which realised £15,000,000. Private industry has purehased 130,000 maehiue tools, for which it paid the directorate £35,000,000. Tlie coal industry is using 170 heavy tanks as open-cast eoai scrapers, and 1000 Bren carriers liave been convert-ed into tractors. I'nsaleable aircraft have been broken up for scrap, and 54,000 alum'uiium hotises liave been built from ihe motai in lliem.
