HOLD-UP OF U.S. LOAN TO BRITAIN DEMANDED

The Senate Appropriations Connnittee today asked the Treasury to hold up the release of the linal of 400,000,000 dollars of the British loan until Britain agreed to use 80,000,000 dollars thereof for occupation costs in the BritishAmerican zoue ixx Gerinanv. The release of the 400,000,000 dollars, which has Ixeen frozen .since August, was anuouuced yesterdav by Alr. John Snyder, Secretary of the Treasury, who ' said Britain required the funds to pay for essentlal imports fronx the Uuited Status. • . . , The immediate official British rehction in Washington to the Senare Appropriations Committeo's request was: "It is out of the question. "
