Ronald James Smith, a 38-year-old bulldozer mechauic employed at the Waitewhena State coal mines. He leavcs a wife and fou; voung children. When he did not return home it was thought . he had decided to "stav overniglit with friends at Ohura, and it was not until he failed to return on the following night that an alarm was raised. Death was thought to havt occurrcd within half an liour of the accident. •
