COLOURFUL ROSE SHOW IN SHANNON

Introduced to the gathermg m the JOruids' Hall on Friday at 2.60 p.m. ny Mrs. K. Thomson (convener) , Mrs. F. Hockly, of Kairanga, president of the Manawatu Federation of Women's Institutes, in declaring the show open congratulate'd those responsi'rle and saicl that though the entries were not large in number the quality was very good She was pleased to see such a large gathering of girls and boys, for their interest augureo. well for the future. The entries in the rose, sweet pej and deeorative sections were undoubtedly the best in a colourful show, the latter being nieely arranged in tiers on the stage. The cut flower section did not 'draw a large number of entries and nehher did _ the vegetable nor the cookery sections There was some good work in the fairly large needlework section and special praise is due to the sehool children for their numerous entries. Those responsible for the show arrangements were Mrs. K. Thomson' (convener) , Mrs. W. Easton (secretary) with Mrs. J. Barnett, junr., as assistant, Mesdames C Veale aird A. Church (stewards for the rose section) , Ivlrs. R. Roberts and Joan Radford. (sweet peas), Mesdames W. Radford, H. Stern and D. Fitzgerald (cut blooms), Mesdames A. E. Burling and W. C.
