MILK ROUNDSMEN DECLARE SUNDAY STRIKE
AUCKLAND, Dec. 5. No house-to-house deliveries of milk will be made on Sunday morning by members of the Auckland Alilk Roundsmen's Union. This arose om of a lengthy special meeting held by the union in the Trades Hall this afternoon, when'an attendanee of about 70 men dec'ided to put into effect the strike which was postponed on Wednes day pending the result of discussions with the Alinister of Labour, Alr. AleLagan, in Wellington. The householders affected by this action will have to collect their milk from dairies and depots. Btated to be a protest against the emyiloyers ' attitu,de in recent -.eonciliation proceedings for a new award, the -Irike so tar afi'ects only roundsmeu engaged in delivering retail milk. There are about 150 men iu the union' includihg a few in Whangarei, Hannl ton and other towns in the province. Of a total of about 31,000 gallons of milk distributed in the lhetropblitari area each day,' from 7000 to 8000 gallons handled by three tnajbr orgahisations, the New Zealand Cb-operative Dairy Company, Auckland Milk Treatment' Corporatioh and Stonex Brothers, is iuvolved in the stoppage. Deliveries made by about 110 ownfer-vendors are not affected. After (liscussibns with ATr. ArcLagan in conjunction with representatives of the Federation of Labou r, the deputation from tlie union rfeturried from Wellington by train this morning. Ih deciding to strike the meeting voted against a recommendation to the contrary made by the deputation. V" *
