PLEASANT WIND-UP SOCIAL
PRESENTATION OF CUP On Fri'day last a wind-up to a successful season was held by the Otaki-Rahui Football Club, which staged a most pleasant function at the Te Horo Hall. Dancing was j indulged in to splendid music, while Mr. C. Rogers was an energetic M.C. The supper arrangements were in the capable ' hands , of MrS. Royal, and the thanks of I the club are due to her for hei'i generosity, not only on this occasion but on many others. Mr. T. V. Cahill, president of the Otaki Club, in introducing Mr. A. Gillespie, president of the Horowhenua Rugby Union, spoke in giowing terms of the progress foot- ; ball had made in the district, and i ccngratulated the Otaki-Rahui Club on its success during the season. He congratulated the two clubs in amalgamating, and spoke highly of the social side of the teams, maintaining that it was through the fine efforts of MessrsS C. Pussell and E. Cook that mat- j ters had passed off so pleasantly I and ended so financial sound. i Other members, said Mr. Cahill, | were also erititled- to credit for their good work. Mr. Hugh Mof- : fatt, president of the Rahui Club i stressed the good work done by j members, and referred to Mr. Gil- j lespie as a very capable person as president of the union. Never once had Mr. Gillespie failed when called upon. Mr. Gillespie, in presenting the : Nash Cup to the winners, con- j gratulated both clubs on their success, and spoke well of other activities in connection with the j club, which had helped considerably with the social side of football. He spoke of the fine sportsmanship of players, and trusted next season would see- even a stronger team.
