SISTER KENNY'S BRIEF VISIT TO NEW ZEALAND
WELLIX GTON, Dec. 1. Sister Elizabeth Kenny, originator oi the Kenny method of treatiug vic'tims of infantile paralysis, will arrive in Xew Zealand on December 15, accorcling to word received by Sister Gwen Dryden, matron of. the Hospitai for Xeuro-Muscular Diseases at Silverstream. Sister' Dryden said that Sister Kenny 's visit would be brief as she planned to leave for the United States bv air 011 December 25. She hoped, however, to visit both islands and it was possible that the documentary film of her treatment, which she Was bringing with her, would be screened in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. Many parents of paralysis suft'erers had asked whether Sister Kenny could examine their children, but her programiue would be so full that it was unfortunately impossible to arrange for such examinations, Sister Dryden sain. "The Kenny lnethod was reallv instituted for the treatment of acute cases of poliomyelitis," Sister Dryden said. "Acute cases which have been caught early in their first stages have been treated for two and a half to three montlis and then have made complete recoveries. Chronic cases take longei to respond to the treatment." Sister Diwden said this morning that she had requests to admit cases from Auckland to her hospitai at Silverstream but at present it was not advisable to transport acute cases from Auckland to an uninfected area such as Wellington,
