SCHOOL PASSES AND PRIZES

♦ ~ — — — — LISTS TO BE PUBLISHED NEXf1 WEEK Facing rowS of empty desks, teachers in the Levin Primary School and College were hard at work this morning making out their annual reports and wotfking on the normal end-of-year returns. In the passages of the primary school, rows of clothes hooks held a surprising number of. forgotten 'raincoats, school bags, caps and lunch tins. There were also eonsiderable numbers of pupils who have not yet collected their school books. The headmaster of the Levin Public School, Mr. H. F. McClune, said this morning that the list of promotions and the new class lists should be completed next week. These will be published in "The Chronicle." The sending out to parents of their children's annual reports, would probably constitute a difficulty, said Mr. McClune, but ne hoped that arrangements could 'be made for their dispatch through the post. Arrangements are in hand . for the commencement next week of a refresher" course and lectures.^ in the Levin Primary School for teachers from Levin, Ohau, Poroutawhao and Muhunoa. According to advice received by telephone by Mr. McClune.* physical education instructors from Wellington would be holding speeial courseS for primary school teachers in the Horowhenua at the Levin School on Thufsday and Friday .of next week. " The principal of the Horowhenua College, Mr, N. A. Byrne, said today that the prize list should be , completed early next week and would be available for publicatioh. The annual reports would be posted to parents. He had not yet received instruotions about the future, but thought it unlikely that any move would be made to cohduct lessons by correspondence, as it was late in the year and the examinations were over.
