Trembath ,of Te Horo, who has been un'der tr.eatment at Rotorua for some time, returns tomorrow for further treatment. Licensing Bench „ The next quarterly meeting of the Otaki Licensing Bench will be held - at Levin Courthouse on December 12. Road Inspection Members of the Otaki Borough Council on Friday made an inspection of a proposed road via the Otaki River bank to a place near Rangiuru, which shoul'd be ideal for opening up a new route for pleasure-seekers as well as a convenience for those living in the vicinity. A report will be presented at the next council meeting. Pennants Bowling Two rinks from Plimmerton visited Otaki on - Saturday to play Otaki for the country pennants, but on account of the rain the match did not eventuate. The visitors, however, were entertained at afternoon tea, and matters of interest to bowlers discussed. The Mexted Cup match between Otaki and Paraparaumu was also postponed. Scrub Fire Shortly before 11 a.m. on Saturday the siren sounded an alarm, the cause being a fire on the hill near the Otaki Presbytery. It appears that a flame-thrower was being used by Mr. McEwen to burn gorse on the hillside, but on ' account of the dry nature of the grass this ignited and the fire spread southwards towards the Presbytery buildings. However,- anumber of wet sacks, wielded by willing workers, were used to advantage, while the fire engine was quickly on the scene and the fire was soon suppressed. No damage was done.
