WELLINGTON, Nov. 21. A proposal that tlie New Zealand Federation of I,abour shonld seek a further increase in wages, was endorsed at the national eonf'erenee of tlie XTew Zealand Carpenters ' and Joiners' ' Union. The conference also endorsed the policy of the last Labour Party conference, calling for firm control of building through building control eommittees. A resolution was adopted declaring that the present trade training schools should be retained for the full time training of apprentices. This proposal was referitid to the Dominion Apprenticeship' Committee with a view to its adoption. The national executive was asked to prepare a report on how best the union could contribute to the Aid to Britain cainpaign. The national president, Mr. F. M. Langley (Christchurch), vice-president, Afr. W. Greig (Auckland), and secretary, Arr. R. Stanley (Auckland), were re-elected.
