uonsiqergtion will be given to applications by regular importers for licenqes to import electric irons and electric toasters from the United Kingdom provided that such applications are supported by deflnite evidence of availability, states a memorandum from the Customs " Department. However, preference will be given to applications covering irons of thermostatically -controlled types and toasters incorporating automatic ' timing devices. Licences may be granted for the importation of wooden, handles for tools from all eoimtries inpluding Canada and Unfted States in accordance with the allocation provided in the 1948 period schedule.
