McClune weieomed the guests, anu the judge, Mr. L, H, Atkins, and the associate judge, Mr. F. Catiey. In the calf rearing competitibns the first • judging was mahe ■ on the amount of care and attentipn given the animal. It was foilbwea oy a survey for the best dairy type, only ope award being given m this case. The results of the competitions were as follows: — , Senior calf, care and attentioii: Lois Honore 1, Barry Geange 2, iviargarer Morgan 3. Best calf, dairy lype: Barry Geange. Junior calf, care an'd attention, Shaw Cup to winher: Bruce Maicoim 1, Mary Porter 2, Allan Parsons 3. besr bred calf, Cheesman Cup: Lois Honore. Malcolm halter for entrants who have never won a calf competition previously: David Aitchison. Lambs: Clive Mexted 1, Donald Shaw 2, Basil Nerten 3. At the conclusion of the judging the ribbons won were presented to the successful compektors by Mrs. McClune. Reikorangi Calves. — Senior: Jonn Carter 1, Judith Carter 2, pick Greig 3. Junior: James Carter 1, Beverley Greig 2, David Greig 3. Dairy cype: Judith Carter 1. Lambs: Iris Greig 1. Manakau Calves. — Senior: Brian Bregnan 1, Bruce Nicholson 2, Shirley Meholson 3. Dairy type: Shirley Nicholson. Lambs: Rene Bregnan 1, Sylvia Cook 2, Rachel Nicholson 3. Pig Competition Judgmg in the pig section has now been finalised for the whole district. The result is as follows: John Carter (Reikorangi) 1, Graeme Lingwood (Poroutawhao) 2, Donald Ridd (Ohau) 3. Paraparaumu A large numoer of parents and friends gathered in the grounds at the Paraparaumu School to watch the preliminary judging there on Monday. The judge was Mr. R. L. Robinson, of Manakau, and with him as associates were Messrs. Taylor (Otaki), and J. Spiers and K. E. Fogden (Te Horo). At the conclusion of the judging the chairman of the School Com-; mittee, Mr. Mowbray, presented the, awards to the successful children. The results of the calf judging were as follows: — Care and attention: Senior, Dennis Scaife l John Woodman 2, Peggy Woo'dman 3. Junior, Anne Maclean 1, Wenda Potts 2, Patrick Sheridan 3. Dairy type: Joan Walton 1. Poroutawhao Favoured with delightful weather, a large number of parents and f riends assembled for preliminary judging at Poroutawhao School yesterday. A very even lot of calves and lambs of good type and quality were presented, reflecting great credit on the children who turned them out in such fine order. Mr. A. M. Atkins was judge and his associate wak Mr. F. Catiey. Best mannered calf (Mr. A. M. Scott's special, prize) . — Senior: Colin Cook's '"Pat" 1. Junior: Shona Hollis' -"Susan" 1. The adjudicatbrs made the fcllowing placings in the lamb and pig competitions: — Lambs: Gloria Cofner's "Jumbo" 1, Brian Sutcliffe's "Bubbles" 2, Sammy Cameron's "Curly" 3. PigS: Graeme Lingard's ''Dabby" won the second award for the Horowhenua district.
